Sharing our Findings
Public events, the internet and the media all offer opportunities to put our findings into the public domain.
LHA is committed to sharing our research with the scientific community, with those who can translate our findings into policy and practice, and with the general public. We feedback our findings each year to the NSHD study members whose lifelong generosity has enabled us to gather the data.
Research by the Unit that is of special relevance to these goals includes:
- Identifying lifetime social and biological determinants of physical and cognitive capability, and mental health and wellbeing, and how this knowledge can help to target health-related interventions
- Developing an integrated multi-disciplinary understanding of ageing over the life course
- Training new investigators in life course research methods
Between March and June 2011 a public exhibition celebrating the NSHD's 65th birthday, the lifelong commitment of NSHD study members, and the history and achievements of the study, toured the country.
